  船用含硼聚乙烯是是一種含有硼元素增強的高密度聚乙烯（HDPE），硼元素可屏蔽抵抗額外中子輻射的屏蔽作用。高密度聚乙烯是一種富氫材料，結合硼可以應用在核屏蔽領域中。富氫材料可以使中子衰減，硼則易于吸收熱能化中子。具有抗輻射性能好，無活化產物，次級γ射線能量低，機械性能高，耐腐蝕，無毒無味，抗沖擊，耐低溫和化學穩定性。
